Loopy HD: Looper App Reviews

I almost never buy apps, much less write reviews, but I have to say this app is AMAZING for musicians. It hardly mimics studio quality and capabilities obviously- but as a tool for brainstorming progressions, composition and layering ideas its fantastic. I wish the metronome volume could be adjusted, or an option for percussion customization.. But otherwise Im really pleased with this brilliant idea!

When you go to record the second one, the microphone picks up the sound from the first one you recorded and you cant even hear. Dont waste your money. This is a stupid waste of time anyways.

Ive been using Loopy HD for a number of years now in conjunction with my Alesis ioDock. The combination of this app with an iOS-compatible audio interface has been very useful for my songwriting workflow. I believe that youll get the most out of the tool if you read the manual, set a tempo and use the metronome, and use count-in and count-out. You should also have a solid grasp of the concept of looping. Additionally, the app cannot make poor performance on your instrument sound great. Perform deliberately, in tempo, and with confidence and Loopy HD will handle the rest.

With a lot of of options and flexibility for recording and playback, Loopy is a program that is worthwhile learning how to use properly. Buy it and do something great with it rather than complain about it in the reviews. Its a product of a few years of interaction between the developer and a lot of users, many who use it professionally. Ive found it essential to making music on an iPad, one of the few workflows that continue to inspire me.

I use loopy HD every day. It is so easy to slap a few samples so quickly to not miss an idea, it is perfect for the novice or the seasoned musician. It is my go to app to integrate ideas with audiobus and other music programmes. I love it. Worth the money; plus, I dont think the chap who writes it is in just for the money. He likes doing what he does. He listens to requests and likes his audience! Kudos to Loopy!

This app sucked. It had terrible sound quality (static, made the speakers sound like banshees) and was extremely inconvenient to record with if youre using an instrument.

How do I put this in line with my mixer so I can loop real instruments? So far, my looping pedal is better.

Then you incorporated this stupid merge thing... I mean, its a good idea but when you have so many things in close proximity, its way too easy to accidentally merge two things and, with no way to UN-merge, it can lead to a loss of a lot of work. For that reason, two stars. Make it so that I can in merge, so that I can turn off merging, or making it CONFIRM you want to merge, until then, this is the rating you deserve.

This is the best music application Ive used on iOS, its never failed me and it obliterates all competition. I realized Id never reviewed it and I felt obligated to because of how great Loopy is. I cant recommend it enough!

This is a great app, its pretty much self explanatory and it works with Ableton Link!

Love, love, love this app!.... Good controls and features. It would be nice to add FX. But Id like to see you add iCloud to this, that way we can add our creations to other music apps, such as GarageBand! Please :-)

The setting that would be useful are confusing to figure out. Also, this app is NOT instrument player friendly!

Latest update broke it and made it unusable,wont finish updating and loss a ton of stuff, thanks.

This recording studio goes hard but it needs a lot more added to it Michael you need to get this recording app with like a different color screen for it one An 2 sound just a little better Also it should have its own Dj mixer type thing on it all in one You make these changes this app will be the best ever

Im embarrassed to admit that Ive owned Loopy for quite some time, but was a bit confused by the interface, and found it daunting. But, after watching their introduction video via their website, it makes complete sense and I find it extremely intuitive and fun to use. I love that it is seamless with Audiobus, which makes sense, because Loopys developer is also responsible for Audiobus and Audiobus Remote. Very cool! I would love to request for Loopys metronome toggle to be accessible via the AB panel and AB Remote triggers. That would help make my live loop recording more efficient. Thanks in advance, and thanks for making such a great musical tool.

I have had nothing but issues with this app. Loops becoming glitchy if tempo is changed (unusable even when returning to original tempo), general sync issues and possibly the worst thing; loops have audio gaps at end/beginning. To top it off, I wasted an hour trying to get their forum to send me a confirmation email so I could try and ask questions/report bugs. Apparently that doesnt work either. Thanks for taking my money though!
